About us

Caltansis Kennels is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club. The kennel was founded by Elaine MacDonald and Veronica Kierzek and is now in its 20th year! Caltansis stands for Calgary; Tanner and the sisters (Tawny and Sydney). 20 years later, Elaine and her husband Bill now have 5 wonderful Tollers in their home.

Caltansis has always had success in both the show ring and the obedience/agility rings.
2012/13 was an amazing year for Caltansis as 5 dogs from the Hillbilly of Great Pleasure x Goldeneye of Great Pleasure litter #20 earned their CKC Champion conformation titles.

“Madden” (BIS BPIG Can Ch. Caltansis Back in the Saddlexx) won Best in Show and Best Puppy in Group. He finished his Canadian Championship with the Best Puppy in Group title. He was the #5 ranked Toller in Canada in 2012. Madden then finished Best in Show in Europe July 2012.  His brother “Sawyer” (BPiG Caltansis 20 Tales of T Sawyer) also won a Best Puppy in Show at the Westwinds Sporting Club Dog Show in July 2011.

In 2014, our Tollers also had a great year in the Obedience ring. “Darby” (Ch. Caltansis 18th Century Darby) earned her CKC JH & WCI; NAHRA SR; and her OTCH. Darby also holds the highest average Toller score for Obedience in Canada! “Darby” is also a winner of the prestigious Doberstein Award and is the first Caltansis dog to win that honour.

For the last 6 years, Caltansis Kennels has been involved in the Pucks for Paws event with the Calgary Hitmen hockey club. December 2017 was another excellent event with the addition of the “Weiner dog race” and the attendance of Canadian country superstar Paul Brandt with his own dog Wouti! The game raises funds and awareness for the Four Feet Companion Foundation, a local volunteer-run agency that provides financial grants to registered animal charities in Calgary.  Please feel free to click on the link to Four Feet for more information on their initiative.

We always look forward to this great fundraiser !

We are excited about the future as we had two successful breedings in 2013 with Ch. BISS RBIS Am/Can Ch. Readyfor Going to the Max (Max). Two puppies are en-route to new homes in Europe. And a successful breeding in 2014 with Max again.
